KNOWN ALL OVER THE WORLD?
The club has gained a mention in the American “0 Scale Trains” magazine for Sept/Oct
In over four column inches, our 50th birthday, our open day and the club’s previous involvement of members in the early days of the Gauge 0 Guild all gets a mention.
Considering I included in the covering note to the editor “Greetings to our colonies” it was surprising we got a mention!.
BUILDING A MODEL RAILWAY COURSE-jointly with Liphook U3A
The course starts tomorrow and runs for 8 two hour sessions , one every 2 weeks ( there is a break to the pattern in October) 5 people will be attending.
This is the third course we have run. The first was in 2010 to celebrate 100 years of model railway clubs in Britain and attracted 11 “students” This ran for 12 weeks as an evening session in Milland Village Hall Committee Room..
LIPHOOK COMMUNITY MAGAZINE
In the current issue (Autumn 2014) is a submitted full page article on the club’s 50th year, together with some archive photographs unfortunately without captions.
I’m pleased the article finally made it as we have had mixed reactions to articles submitted, with many not reaching print, despite being advised they would appear.
We have our first Diorama competition entry “The Model Room-an ongoing saga” by Reg P. More to come I hope!
We have created a new Google+ page called Liphook Railway Station History to collate all the oddments of photos and information we have collected over the years. Another part of our 50yrs celebration.
We have created a new Google+ page called Liphook & District MRC History Archive.which will show our collection of photos, magazine and newspaper cuttings together with meeting notes, exhibition programmes and even club accounts. This is part of our 50th birthday celebrations and will I hope be continued in the coming years.
Additional material is welcome at all times.
