A slightly tonque in cheek display of an imagined RENFE (Spanish Railways) station in Gibraltar, at this years Open Day, could lead to a Spanish/ Gibraltar based HO layout after Warehouse District is “completed”.
These thoughts have been inspired by a return trip to the Spanish Mediteranean coast by train including an overnight sleeper from Paris to Madrid and and a ride on a RENFE 300km/hr high speed train onwards to Malaga.
An Electrotren model of Talgo Elipsos coaches as used on the overnight trips between Paris and Madrid and return, has been ordered from On Tracks and a Spanish loco to haul it is hopefully winging its way from a Spanish model railway emporium at a considerable saving on UK prices. A model of an high speed train will almost certainly follow, also made by Electrotren.
As our proposed station will have only 3 platforms (2 for high speed and one for local/regional it will be difficult to capture the modern spacious feel of current RENFE stations.
