Attendance at this year’s Liphook & District Model Railway Club’s Open day was 82 adults and 23 children, about 10% down on last year.
There was a steady flow of visitors from opening at 10-30, and this continued until lunchtime when not unexpectedly it reduced to a trickle. There was a revival after lunch but that was not sustained and at about 2-30 the numbers reduced again and did not recover before closure at 3-30pm.
It appears that the cub covered its costs.
Thanks are due to all members who attended and to their wives/ partners who donated home made cake and bicuits for sale in the “refreshment room”.
Particular thanks to Sharon who arranged bacon rolls and ploughmans lunch for the members and Jill who assisted serving tea, coffee and cakes throughout the day to visitors and members.
For the first time we had 8 layouts present, of which two were in various stages of construction. One scheduled layout was not able to attend at the last minute, but two unscheduled layouts attended. A club secondhand table containg members unwanted items, attracted some interest and was helpful towards covering costs.
Members enjoyed the day as did the visitors, so it looks like we will do it all over again next year.
