The second annual club OPEN DAY will be held on SUNDAY 23rd OCTOBER at Milland Valley Memorial Hall, Iping Road , Milland, Liphook GU30 7NA, just three miles from the centre of Liphook, over the border into West Sussex. The hall is adjacent to The Rising Sun at Milland cross-roads.

After last years successful open day with 100 visitors, we are aiming to improve the event and hopefully have more satisfied visitors.

This is not an exhibition but a club session to which members of the public are invited. There is plenty of opportunity  to sit and watch the trains, talk to operators and ask questions.

Layouts anticipated to attend in O gauge,On30 narrow gauge, “OO” gauge and “N” gauge are-

Yamanouchi Oshika. N gauge, Japanese outline. Club layout. Returns with extensive re-modelling of scenic elements, which will be premièred at the Gaugemaster Open Days in  September. This layout has already been featured in Continental Modeller earlier this year and there is a follow up article on the rolling stock in the October issue.

Quarhog Lumber. On30 scale (1:48) American outline narrow gauge, members layout. Member, Matt Wildsmith’s layout was first shown at last years event where it was very well received. Its sure to have some new features and more rolling stock this year.

Weyford Town . O scale (1:43) Southern Railway  secondary line terminus.  Club layout. This is a reworking and renaming of an old Liphook & District MRC layout called Woodchurch (GWR). The layout, which was originally a through station layout with two fiddle yards, has withstood long term storage in less than ideal circumstances, to return as a terminal station. (The Weyford name returns to club usage after a previous OO club layout, Weyford-on-Sea,  was sold and is now called Sandbourne.)

Hawkhurst. OO scale (1:76)Southern Railway branch line terminus. Member’s layout. Father and son, Eric and Andrew King’s recreation of  the long defunct prototype terminus. Its first public airing after many years work. Much of the stock is built from brass etched kits.

Soltendieck. O scale (1:45) German outline “micro” layout. Member’s layout. This is a layout under construction by Tony Bettger showing a former through line in Northern Germany (The America Line) cut by the partition of East Germany in 1949. It was not uncommon for such a situation to occur and generally the lines on the western side of the border continued to operate, without alteration to the track layout. This leads to some interesting shunting movements. Soltendieck is a small town in northern Germany and was near the East German border, but this is not a reproduction of that place, but based on a layout plan found on the internet. The stock is manufactured by Lenz and is operated by their DCC system. (This layout is in an early stage of construction and will not be in an operational state. Please ask any questions about its construction.Look out for this layout in an operational state in 2012!)

Ehrwald. N scale German outline alpine layout. Member’s layout. Ben Russ’s new layout, follows on from Vierbrucken, which was his first and very poular exhibition layout. Ehrwald is smaller to simplify transportation, but has, Ben hopes, the same appeal as Vierbrucken. The layout will be operational on DCC but the scenic treatment will be incomplete.

Because we have a small membership, we cannot guarantee all the layouts will operating continuously.

The venue is wheel chair friendly, with toilet for the disabled. There is free  off road car parking.

There will be tea, Coffee and cold drinks plus a selection of home cooked cakes and biscuits available throughout the day.

Open 10-30 to 15-30hrs.
